Ingredients:


  • 330g margarine

  • 2tbsp golden syrup

  • 250g demerara sugar

  • 500g oat flakes

  • 2-3 tbsp mixed chopped nuts (optional)

Method:


  1. Melt margarine, sugar and syrup in a pan, over a low heat, then add the nuts.

  2. Stir in the oat flakes, ensuring they are completely covered, then transfer to a lightly greased tin (approx 30cm/12” square).

  3. Bake in a moderately hot oven (180C/350F/Gas Mark 4) for about 20 minutes.

  4. Mark into fingers/squares while still warm.
