The saltyness of the gammon compliments the sour and spice of the tomato and chilli in this simple but tasty dish.
Ingredients:
For one person, increase proportionally for more people:
- Gammon Steak
- Tin of plum tomatoes (you might not want to use a whole tin)
- Small red onion, chopped
- Half a red pepper, chopped
- Flaked Chillies, one teaspoon is quite spicy
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- Olive Oil
- Pasta
Cooking time, about 10 minutes.
Method:
- Heat frying pan with some olive oil in, and start cooking the pasta.
- Sprinkle chilli and freshly ground black pepper on one side of the gammon steak, and fry. Sprinkle chilli and pepper on the other side before turning.
- Once the gammon is partially cooked, add the onion then the pepper, and soften slightly.
- After a few minutes, add the tomato and simmer until pasta ready
Serve and enjoy. Vary the amount of pepper and chilli to taste.
