Salling Clicker
apple’s release of the new iMac with remote control got me searching for alternatives that would work with my hardware. I had seen Salling Clicker from Salling Software before, but I didn’t think it worked with Windows pocket PC PDA’s. However, version 3 of the Salling Clicker software has been release, and this works with PPC 2003 devices, so i gave it a test.
After testing this for just a few minutes, I realised this was exactly what I was looking for. It gives you pretty much full control over iTunes, DVD player, iPhoto, Mail, NetNewsWire, and more… It also lets you control system volume, sleep, and even use the PDA screen as a trackpad!
Whilst the interface isn’t quite as slick as apple’s new Front Row remote control interface, Salling Clicker appears more powerful, and as it works via bluetooth, it will work from another room.
