Widescreen Mail.app
For those of you with widescreen macs, who use Apple’s Mail.app for your email, may like the following hack to convert it to a 3 column view for viewing messages.

It is not quite as neatly done as you would expect from a proper Apple release, there is a slight quirk with resizing the two main panes, but other than that, it works as expected.
Download the Bundle with instructions on how to install over at harnly.net, or read the forum thread about this.
As usual, install at your own risk, yada yada yada.
Update (24 June)
I have decided to uninstall this (for now). While viewing mail in a widescreen format on a widescreen monitor initially sounded like a clever idea, it is perhaps better to use the wide aspect of the monitor to display multiple windows next to each other. Something I find myself doing much more in OS X than I did in Windows (although this might be due to the significantly larger monitor as mentioned before)
