Ben Loyal
We walked up Ben Loyal, near Tongue in the north of Scotland, last weekend. It was another great walk, although the visibility was not great, and it was very windy! We were expecting to be blown off the summit tor, instead of which we found it to be a sheltered zone with the wind whipping over the top. So, being engineers, we naturally wanted to see the extent of the wind, and of course, recorded the results on video….
Those clumps of moss were flying about 10m up in the air, and about 50-100m downwind. We did have visions of people walking innocently through the village of Tongue being hit by flying lumps of moss!
The wind was so strong that you could lean right into it (almost) without falling over…
