It’s an unusual position to be in, but tomorrow I will be protesting with the Scottish Government against the replacement of the UK’s nuclear arsenal—Trident—our very own WMD.

People and Parliament against Trident

I don’t support every policy of the SNP, but I admire Alex Salmond for standing up and voicing the opinion of the Scottish People—that we do not want to be implicated in the UK’s nuclear weapons programme. A programme which is almost certainly against the Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty that the UK signed up to in 1968.

By marching tomorrow, I hope we can send a clear signal that the people of Scotland are opposed to nuclear weapons.

There is more information on the Scotland 4 Peace website, People and Parliament against Trident, and some background by Rob Edwards in the Sunday Herald.

Update: Some photos on Flickr.
