Tesco freight to be moved to rail
As I was saying in my response to Simon’s post about SNP priorities, dualling the A9 is not the first priority, getting freight off the roads and onto the railways should take precedence. It appears that they read my blog!
It was announced this week that the Scottish Government is giving funding to Hauliers to transport goods between Coatbridge/Livingston and Inverness for Tesco. Links: BBC NEWS | Rail goods cash to cut emissions, £3 million to cut congestion.
It is still ludicrous that these companies need to be given financial incentives. It just shows that the UK railway network is hideously overpriced!
At least it is a step forward.
