The final stage of the day, SS4 Errochty, being attacked by the field of 2wd cars, which meant plenty sightings of motorsport’s ubiquitous ‘Mark II’ Ford Escort. The first of these, car 0, was driven by Colin McRae although he was not “officially” competing!

Formula One could revert to a single tyre manufacturer as early as next year, BBC Sport has learned.
