“Holly Bears The Crown (Holly)”
HOLLY BEARS THE CROWN uses images drawn from the Holly: flowers, leaves and twigs. The eighth tree is the holly, which flowers in July when the Holly king usurped the oak to rule the winter months. Holly means holy and some of its properties became associated with Christ, although in earlier cultures the Holly king was given the role of executioner.
