The Cycle of the Trees of Life
Oil paintings by Jean Noble
EXHIBITION ON OFFER
The Cycle of the Trees of Life is an exhibition of 18 oil paintings. They are inspired by the old Celtic calendar and are arranged in a cycle of seasons.
There are faces in most of the paintings showing the foetus, baby, child, youth, man and old man. This is a cycle of life.
A large leaf is in each painting, representing a different tree. The Celts linked a tree to each lunar month, so there are 13 different trees represented. 5 additional paintings can punctuate these at the equinoxes and solstices to make a larger exhibition.
There are Celtic designs in many of the paintings.
